About your Teacher

Hi, my name is Ansu Badenhorst. I am a formally trained and experienced South African born Educator with a 4 year BA degree in Education, Economics and Biblical Studies. I am a SACE registered and licensed teacher and my experience stretches over 25 years of in-classroom experience from kinder garden level to higher education and adults

I have traveled to various countries to experience the versatility and variety of people, cultures, art and languages. I am an artist. I have an artist's thumbprint and temperament.

I am also a Graphic Designer, Educational Content Developer, Creative Entrepreneur and blogger, writer and I am a memory keeper at heart.

I am also a cardmaker, mixed media artist, creative journaler and I love cooking, watching movies with my family and playing with my cat baby Klouye.

How can I be all these things? I am created by the Great Creator and He is the source of my Creativity. In my classroom you will always be pointed towards your Creator to find inspiration, original ideas and art from Him. He guides us towards our best work.

I have many many kids and I'm a grandma to all their babies. No, I don't have my own kids, but I have "born and raised" so many children that are now well-adapted adults with their own families. They are spread across the world and they thrive. This is part of my legacy and a promise God has given me that I will have spiritual children.

I take my calling very serious and put everything into my classes and the content I create here for your creative and personal development.

I love teaching and I love helping people develop their innate potential.

I hope you join me as we create, learn and grow together.

My Teaching Style:
I teach by using examples. I offer ideas and help my students kick-start the learning process by challenging them to stay inquisitive. I make sure that I am fully prepared and have ample resources available to facilitate the learning process. If students utilize all that I have to offer, they will leave the classroom filled with new information, ideas and inspiration.

I care about the individual student and it is important to me to feel connected to my audience and to interact with each and every student on a personal level.

My passion is developing potential in others and my gift is Creativity and Encouragement.

What I expect from my students:
I am the mirror personality type (INFP) That means what you give me I will give back to you. I therefor reflect what you give me.  If you are committed, stay engaged and connected and give it your best, you will find the same commitment from me. I expect much because I give much. I believe in excellence not perfection. That means I expect that you give your attempt your best shot. Without effort we won't get anywhere, right!

What is important to me:
That you develop to your full potential.

Class Format:
Each class is hosted on its own web page here on the site. It consists of an information section, a video and a download with tutorial, printable kits, project gallery and more.

These rules are for you to help you get your head in the game:
Picture
Don't ever compare your efforts to any other Class Member:
We all need to be reminded of this. You are unique and your progress is also unique to you. Each time you compare where you began to where you are now, you will stand amazed. Let that be your focus.
Picture
Excellence in stead of perfection:
Just give it your best each time you try something new. Expect it not to be perfect. Each time you try again, you will apply what you have learned from the first try and your progress will be evident. Let perfection go, and attempt for progress.
Picture
Aim for at least one class per week:
Work time into your normal schedule each week to sit down and work on your creative developmet or spiritual growht. Revive what needs to be revived and rather work consistently at it over a longer period than to rush through the things just to say "I'm done". This is a marathon and not a sprint. Growing a garden takes commitment and time. Be realistic about your time and stay committed.
Picture
Keep your mistakes:
We will make mistakes. That is part of our experimenting. We test and re-test and keep trying. When you make an artwork and then find it doesn't look like what you had in your head, just keep it. Later on you can use it again either for a warm-up or just cover it with layers until you see what you want to see. The process is a learning curve and that is what you want.
Picture
Remember to have FUN!
When you are working on your creative development, let you inner child come out. Make sure to set up a space that is fun to be in and that draws you in. When you make a mess, don't worry about it. Your habits of clearing before and after a session, will curb the creative clutter you will be creating. Tell yourself: "It's OK. I'm playing right now. I will clear up when I'm done".  Document the sessions that you really enjoyed. Add it to your Creative Journal and make sure to tell yourself why you loved it.
Picture
Share your work in the Community Groups:
We require our community members to join our online groups. We have a #ClubCreativegirl and #ClubFaithgirl group for you to join FREE. Class related community groups will be part of the PAID Class and can only be joined by purchasing the class and referencing the order number when requesting access.
Joining the community groups is not something you can skip. It is required for participants to share their work. Why? Because if you really want to learn something, you actually need to do the work and if you share your progress, that is when you actually benefit from this program. It is output that you want. It shows you are growing. It is also my way of helping you get over your fear of letting people see what you can do because you perhaps fear rejection. Push through that fear and be BOLD! It will help you become the artist you want to be: Fearless!

This was one of my very first artworks. It is a mixed media portrait. When I look back at where I began my journey and what God has enabled me to do creatively since then, I am in awe of His work in me. I want to encourage you to not give up when your small beginnings do not look like the dream inside your heart. Keep going! Never ever compare your efforts to mine or any other artist's work out there in the world. You are not suppose to do what they do the way they do it. Your own thumbprint is unique. Develop that!
